Getting paid
Payments are handled securely by Stripe. Before you can sell, connect a free Stripe account from Vendor Dashboard → Settings → Payment → Card Payment → Connect with Stripe. Stripe will ask for your name, date of birth, address and bank details to verify who you are.
When you mark an order as Completed, your earnings are sent to your Stripe account automatically and paid into your bank on Stripe’s normal schedule. You never need to request a withdrawal.
Fees
- Commission: 8% of the item price. We don’t take commission on postage.
- Card processing: Stripe’s card fee is deducted from your earnings on each sale.
- No listing fees and no monthly fees.
Example: for a £20 item with £3.30 postage, you receive £18.40 for the item plus £3.30 postage, minus Stripe’s card fee.
Setting your postage
Set your postage in Vendor Dashboard → Settings → Shipping. You keep 100% of what you charge for postage. We recommend Royal Mail Tracked at around £3.30 for large letters, £4.45 for small parcels and £7.25 for medium parcels. Choose the right size on each listing so buyers are charged correctly. If a buyer orders from more than one seller, each seller charges and posts separately.
Dispatching and completing orders
- Dispatch within the time shown in your shop, or within 3 working days if you haven’t set one.
- Use a tracked service and add the tracking number to the order.
- Mark the order Completed once it’s posted. You won’t be paid until you do.
Selling as a hobby or a business
Hobby makers are welcome, and you don’t need to be a registered business to sell. If you sell as a business (trader), say so in your shop description, because buyers have extra rights when buying from a trader. If you sell regularly, HMRC may require us to share details of your sales with them.
Designs, fan art and licensed characters
Only list items you have the right to sell:
- ✅ Your own original designs
- ✅ Models whose licence allows commercial use. Check the licence on Printables, Thingiverse, MyMiniFactory and similar sites, and credit the designer where the licence asks.
- ❌ Characters, logos or brands owned by others (for example Marvel, Disney, Nintendo or Games Workshop) unless you have permission
- ❌ Copies of paid or “personal use only” models
We may remove listings that break these rules without notice. Repeated breaches can lead to your shop being closed.
Reporting a listing
If you believe a listing uses your design, character or trademark without permission, email hello@the3dprintmarket.co.uk with a link to the listing and details of your rights. We’ll review it and remove it where appropriate.
